The Beta Self-Collection™ Kit provides everything you need to collect your own DNA samples for a paternity test or other family relationship DNA test. It contains straightforward instructions for collecting the samples, buccal swabs for each person to be tested, envelopes for holding the used swabs (i.e., the samples), and a postage-paid Business Reply envelope for sending the samples to us.

It is easy—and painless—to collect samples using our kit. Working with one tested person at a time, you simply label the appropriate swab envelope with that person’s information and then use the buccal swabs to rub the person’s inner cheek. (The buccal swabs are like long cotton swabs, so they don’t cause any pain when they are rubbed inside the cheek.) We send 4 swabs for each person to be tested: 2 swabs for the left cheek, and 2 swabs for the right cheek. After using each swab, place it in the properly labeled swab envelope.

Once all 4 swabs have been used for one tested party, label the envelope and collect the samples of the next tested party. Then, when the samples have been collected for all the tested individuals, place the swab envelopes in the Business Reply envelope, and mail the kit back to our laboratory at your convenience. Your test results will be ready 5 business days after our laboratory receives all your samples.
